Here is the latest episode in NASA’s Space to Ground weekly report on activities related to the International Space Station:
** Russian Spacewalk 48 Animation – NASA Video
Outside the International Space Station, Expedition 65 Flight Engineers Oleg Novitskiy and Pyotr Dubrov of Roscosmos will conduct a spacewalk June 2 to complete the decommissioning of the Pirs Docking Compartment. The cosmonauts will disconnect electrical and telemetry cables and relocate spacewalking equipment and a cargo boom in preparation for Pirs’ undocking later this year and disposal while attached to the ISS Progress 77 cargo ship. Pirs’ departure will clear the Earth-facing port of the Russian segment of the station for the arrival of the new Nauka Multipurpose Laboratory Module that will launch later this year on a Russian Proton rocket. Novitskiy, who is designated as extravehicular crew member 1 (EV1), will wear a Russian Orlan spacesuit with red stripes. Dubrov will wear a spacesuit with blue stripes as extravehicular crew member 2 (EV2). This will be the first spacewalk for both cosmonauts and the 238th spacewalk overall in support of space station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades. It also marks the sixth spacewalk of 2021.

** Expedition 65 Inflight with People Magazine – June 1, 2021 – NASA Video
Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 65 Flight Engineer Megan McArthur of NASA discussed life and research on the complex during a question and answer session June 1 with People magazine. The interview followed up on a previous article People magazine ran about McArthur’s career with questions about her flight to the station on a commercial crew vehicle and the work being conducted on the laboratory. McArthur launched to the station in April aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon vehicle for a planned six-month mission.
** Expedition 65 European Space Agency Education Event – June 1, 2021 – NASA Video
Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 65 Flight Engineer Thomas Pesquet of ESA (European Space Agency) discussed life and research on the complex during a virtual question and answer session June 1 with students living in France, Austria, the Netherlands and Estonia. Pesquet launched to the station in April aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon vehicle for a planned six-month mission.
