Video: Short film “Star Trek: Axanar”

The fan supported but professionally produced and acted independent Star Trek  film project Axanar has created a 21 minute short film :

To complete the full-length film, they are using crowd-funding to pay for the development in “discreet sections “. However, they may not need to break into many discreet sections considering that their current Kickstarter has tripled its goal with several days left : Star Trek: Axanar by Axanar Productions — Kickstarter.

Ken Murphy: Cislunar films + Updating the Boy Scout Space Exploration merit badge

I mentioned Ken Murphy in the previous posting about the Moon Day event this Saturday in Dallas that he is helping to organize. Ken was interviewed on the Space Show recently : Ken Murphy, Tuesday, 7-15-14 – Thespaceshow’s Blog

They talked about a number of topics, particularly his extensive compilation of space films with settings in the Earth-Moon system (i.e. cislunar):

In the latest issue of The Space Review, Ken writes about updates to the Boy Scout’s Space Exploration merit badge pamphlet (which is 96 pages long!) : Boy Scout space exploration – The Space Review.

The Last Man on the Moon + The last Soviet robot on the Moon

The documentary The Last Man on the Moon focuses on Apollo 17 astronaut Eugene Cernan. He was the last person to leave his footprint on the Moon when he stepped from the surface into their lunar module for the return trip to rendezvous with the command module on Dec. 14, 1972.

The film had its debut this week in the UK:
