Powered by Dreaming – bridging the worlds of science and art
I received the following announcement in the mail about an interesting event called:
Powered by Dreaming, taking place May 28th – May 31st, 2013 at Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, NY. This three-day experience is full of workshops in astronomy, botany, biology, music and much more; all guided by experts within their fields.
The impressive list of mentors includes (but is not limited to) Tasman Rosenfeld (13 year-old butterfly expert), Barbara Dean Schacker (researcher and speech therapist), Dr. Chundak Tenzing (Ophthalmologist), and Joel Bluestein (eco-friendly entrepreneur).
[…] science is a key part of understanding life’s simplicities and difficulties. Sarah’s keen appreciation for this is evident through her creation of Powered by Dreaming, which forms a bridge between the worlds of science and art. Through interactive workshops led by notable scientists, researchers and artists, the end goal of the three-day experience is to leave a lasting impression on campers, and have them believing that no dream is too big to achieve. Featured workshops include:
Learning How To Speak Again

Through the real life experiences of Barbara Dean Schacker, who worked with her husband Michael to help him re-learn speech after a stroke, we can learn much about communication in general. Learning begins with listening.
