ESA ATV scale model kit + ATV launch today

The French firm Heller is offering a kit of the European ATV (Automated Transfer Vehicle) spacecraft, which delivers cargo to the International Space Station: MISSION JULES VERNE – Heller (Google Translation to English).

The next ATV mission is scheduled to blast off today at 2152:11 GMT (5:52:11 p.m. EDT) on an Ariane 5 rocket from the ESA spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana :

New LEGO space models by Stephen Pakbaz

I have previously highlighted the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover LEGO model designed by Stephen Pakbaz. I see that his website now has some new models listed on his page at the Rebrickable.com. These include a Descent Stage for the MSL and the Orbital Sciences Cygnus cargo spacecraft.

LEGO Rovers in International Space Apps Challenge

NASA’s International Space Apps Challenge “takes place over April 20 – 21, and includes 23 NASA challenges and 25 non-NASA challenges: VIDEO – Lego Rovers head to NASA’s International Space Apps Challenge – Univ. of Liverpool

The NASA International Space Apps Challenge focuses on space exploration and runs over 48 hours in 75 cities across the globe, from Abu Dhabi to Adelaide, New York City to Ho Chi Minh City. It aims to create open source solutions to a selection of problems through the combined effort of enthusiasts and experts based around the world.

Space LEGOs coming home on the Dragon

A NASA collaboration with LEGOspace.com led to a batch of LEGO bricks going to the International Space Station and the building of several
space models, including one of the  LEGO International Space Station. The bricks are now on their way home: LEGO toys returning from space station on Earth-bound cargo craft – collectSPACE.
