HTT, currently funded through\u00a0(JumpStartFund<\/a>),\u00a0expects to become a\u00a0public\u00a0company soon: \u00a0The Crowdsourced Company Building Elon’s Hyperloop Is Going Public –\u00a0WIRED<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, another company called\u00a0Hyperloop Technologies Inc<\/a>. has formed and is backed by\u00a0“a formidable lineup of Silicon Valley and Washington superstars” according to Forbes:\u00a0Hyperloop Is Real: Meet The Startups Selling Supersonic Travel – Forbes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They are taking a different approach to the hyperloop:<\/p>\n

Even more surprising than the platinum-plated roster: Hyperloop Tech\u2019s initial mission. They intend to go way beyond Musk\u2019s original vision and focus first on freight rather than human transportation. This high-speed \u201ccargoloop\u201d could go over land or under water. Imagine submerged skeins of steel tubes crisscrossing the ocean or up and down the coasts hurtling shipping containers at near supersonic speeds. Need iPhones?
