{"id":8792,"date":"2014-09-11T01:59:53","date_gmt":"2014-09-11T05:59:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobbyspace.com\/Blog\/?p=8792"},"modified":"2014-09-11T01:59:53","modified_gmt":"2014-09-11T05:59:53","slug":"university-group-in-india-launches-its-own-sounding-rockets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hobbyspace.com\/Blog\/?p=8792","title":{"rendered":"University group in India launches its own sounding rockets"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>A group in\u00a0the\u00a0Aerospace Engineering department at the\u00a0International Indian University in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Navi_Mumbai\" target=\"_blank\">Navi Mumbai<\/a>, India has established a sounding rocket program that has achieved\u00a0altitudes of 4.5 km, 10 km, and 40 km with their rockets. I&#8217;m told by Rajesh Muneshwar, head of the department, that their rockets are powered by a sugar based solid fuel.\u00a0He also says the public demonstrations of the launches &#8220;<em>are thrilling, motivating and attracting more students to develop ROCKETS&#8221;.<\/em><\/div>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a report on their rocket projects:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hobbyspace.com\/AAdmin\/archive\/Rocketry\/2014\/InternationalIndianUniversity-RocketProgram.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">India\u2019s First Private Rocket Construction and Launch Initiatives for Space Education &#8211;\u00a0Sept.9.2014 (pdf)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>The 4.5 km is rescheduled to launch on 27 September 2014. Also in the coming months the team will have two rocket launch done with altitudes attaining 10 kms and 100 kms with a 500 gms of payload.
