In its latest newsletter, the\u00a0International Space Elevator Consortium<\/a> (ISEC) reviews their\u00a0recent conference and sets the theme of next year’s event :\u00a0ISEC Newsletter August 2014<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Japan Space Elevator Association<\/a>\u00a0(JSEA) attended the conference and reported on a recent tether climber contest that they sponsored:\u00a0SPEC 2014 – The Space Elevator Blog<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0This year for instance, they had a 1,200 m long tether held up by balloons.\u00a0 Climbers are powered by batteries and scores are awarded based on speed, payload, etc.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
