{"id":8668,"date":"2014-08-25T08:47:06","date_gmt":"2014-08-25T12:47:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobbyspace.com\/Blog\/?p=8668"},"modified":"2014-08-26T20:39:43","modified_gmt":"2014-08-27T00:39:43","slug":"new-horizons-pluto-mission-panels-on-nasa-tv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hobbyspace.com\/Blog\/?p=8668","title":{"rendered":"New Horizons Pluto mission panels on NASA TV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There will be two live programs today on NASA TV dealing with\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/pluto.jhuapl.edu\/\" target=\"_d\">New Horizons<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0mission to Pluto:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/press\/2014\/august\/nasa-tv-to-air-events-that-highlight-pluto-bound-spacecraft\/#.U_suvvldU4I\" target=\"_d\">NASA TV to Air Events That Highlight Pluto-Bound Spacecraft<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Media and the public are invited to attend two events Monday, Aug. 25 from 1-3 p.m. EDT to learn more about the agency\u2019s New Horizons mission to Pluto and its historic connection to the Voyager spacecraft\u2019s visit to Neptune in 1989.<\/p>\n<p>The events, which will air live on NASA Television and the agency&#8217;s website, will take place in the Webb Auditorium at NASA Headquarters, 300 E Street SW in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>New Horizons will conduct a six -month-long study of Pluto and its five moons, including a close approach in July 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The 1-2 p.m. event will feature a panel discussion with:<br \/>\no Jim Green, director, NASA\u2019s Planetary Division, Science Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters, Washington<br \/>\no Ed Stone, Voyager project scientist, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena<br \/>\no Alan Stern, New Horizons principal investigator, Southwest Research Institute, Boulder, Colorado<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The 2-3 p.m. event will include several New Horizons science team members giving personal accounts of their work during the Voyager Neptune encounter and their new assignments on the Pluto mission.
