This channel, along with an unusual deposit on the lowest part of the floor, suggests that there was once an ancient lake that deposited sediments here.<\/span><\/em><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><em><a class=\"caption\" style=\"color: #15548a;\" href=\"http:\/\/static.uahirise.org\/images\/2014\/details\/cut\/ESP_037122_2165.jpg\"><strong>Our enhanced-color sample<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0shows layered deposits, some with polygonal patterns, as might be expected from lake sediments.
