They accept it as part of the job. We have invested decades and many tens of billions of dollars in a space station that we cannot currently get to without buying rides from an adversary in a renewed Cold War with temperature rising. If it were really important to end our dependence on them, you can bet that NASA would figure out a way to do it and quickly, by rapidly modifying a\u00a0<span data-scaytid=\"2\" data-scayt_word=\"SpaceX\">SpaceX<\/span>\u00a0Dragon\u00a0like that currently at the\u00a0<span data-scaytid=\"3\" data-scayt_word=\"ISS\">ISS<\/span>. And in fact, on the\u00a0<a title=\"http:\/\/www.twitlonger.com\/show\/n_1s1irff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.twitlonger.com\/show\/n_1s1irff\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/www.twitlonger.com\/show\/n_1s1irff\">same day<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0<span data-scaytid=\"5\" data-scayt_word=\"Rogozin\">Rogozin<\/span>\u00a0tweeted his threat,\u00a0<span data-scaytid=\"6\" data-scayt_word=\"Elon\">Elon<\/span>\u00a0Musk of\u00a0<span data-scaytid=\"4\" data-scayt_word=\"SpaceX\">SpaceX<\/span>\u00a0<a title=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2014\/05\/02\/spacex_touts_latest_gear_with_new_module_rocket_demo\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2014\/05\/02\/spacex_touts_latest_gear_with_new_module_rocket_demo\/\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2014\/05\/02\/spacex_touts_latest_gear_with_new_module_rocket_demo\/\">responded with his own<\/a>: &#8220;Sounds like this might be a good time to unveil the new Dragon Mk 2 spaceship that\u00a0<span data-scaytid=\"8\" data-scayt_word=\"@SpaceX\">@SpaceX<\/span>\u00a0has been working on w @NASA. No trampoline needed.&#8221; He announced that he will do so at the end of May.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>But in its actions, Congress sends a clear message that it is not important. They could fix that, though, with a simple amendment to that bill when it gets to the House floor.
