Satellite navigation will become increasingly robust as two new systems join the \u00a0operational American\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GPS\" target=\"_d\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GPS\">Global Positioning System (GPS)<\/a> and Russian <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GLONASS\" target=\"_d\">GLONASS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.beidou.gov.cn\/\" target=\"_d\">Beidou Navigation Satellite System<\/a>\u00a0is now being activated and will be globally available by the end of the decade:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/news.xinhuanet.com\/english\/china\/2013-12\/28\/c_133002971.htm\" target=\"_d\">Beidou to cover world by 2020 with 30 satellites &#8211; Xinhua | English.news.cn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Activation<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0of t<\/span>he European\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Galileo_positioning_system\" target=\"_d\">Galileo system<\/a>\u00a0is also underway and will be completed by 2019.<\/p>\n<p>So by 2020, many navigation devices should be able to work with all four systems and always have multiple satellites in view.
