They have recently revamped their website and offers more info:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadianbusiness.com\/technology-news\/a-miniature-sun-rises-in-the-west\/\" target=\"_d\">Burnaby\u2019s General Fusion aims to tap clean fusion power: <em>Fusion power at a fraction of the cost<\/em> &#8211; Canadian Business<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/nextbigfuture.com\/2013\/10\/general-fusion-targeting.html\" target=\"_d\">General Fusion targeting commercializing nuclear fusion in about 2020 &#8211; nextbigfuture.com<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Their innovative acoustic driven compression technique is illustrated in this animation:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zf8QIJ2VgqU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>===<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aa.washington.edu\/faculty\/slough\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Prof. John Slough<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aa.washington.edu\/research\/plasmadynamics\/\" target=\"_blank\">Plasma Dynamics Lab<\/a>\u00a0at the University of Washington\u00a0is involved with a couple of spinoff companies using tech derived from his group&#8217;s work on compression of \u00a0FRC (Field Reverse Configuration) bubbles of plasma.<\/p>\n<p>The company <a href=\"http:\/\/helionenergy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Helion Energy<\/a>\u00a0aims to develop a fusion power system:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/helionenergy.com\/?p=440\" target=\"_d\">The 4th in Helion\u2019s series of groundbreaking prototypes is now operationa &#8211; HE &#8211; Oct.11.13<\/a>&#8220;Previous prototypes demonstrated the breakthroughs that made possible a new path toward commercial fusion and yielded significant fusion yields with Helion\u2019s design. \u00a0This prototype will take Helion one step closer to commercial scale fusion.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/helionenergy.com\/?p=415\" target=\"_d\">Helion Energy wins the PNW Cleantech Open \u00a0HE- Oct.18,13<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The fusion propulsion project is based at the company\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/msnwllc.com\/\" target=\"_d\">MSNW LLC<\/a>,\u00a0which I recently posted about here:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/hobbyspace.com\/Blog\/?p=4654\" target=\"_d\">FISO: MSNW LLC and \u201cthe first realistic approach to fusion-based propulsion\u201d &#8211; Space-for-All<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An updated overview was presented at the recent International Electric Propulsion Conference (IEPC2013) in Washington, D.C. : J.
