{"id":5102,"date":"2013-10-28T21:58:45","date_gmt":"2013-10-28T21:58:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobbyspace.com\/Blog\/?p=5102"},"modified":"2013-10-28T21:58:45","modified_gmt":"2013-10-28T21:58:45","slug":"international-sunsat-competition-over-40k-in-prizes-to-be-awarded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hobbyspace.com\/Blog\/?p=5102","title":{"rendered":"International SunSat Competition &#8211; Over $40k in prizes to be awarded"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An announcement from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nss.org\" target=\"_blank\">National Space Society<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/spacejournal.ohio.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Space Journal at Ohio University<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Participate in the International SunSat Competition<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Over $40,000 in Prizes Will Be Awarded!\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The National Space Society in affiliation with Ohio University is pleased to announce that the <a href=\"http:\/\/sunsat.gridlab.ohio.edu\/node\/7\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\">International SunSat Design Competition<\/a> is now registering competitive teams.\u00a0 This two-year project is designed to link global scientific communities with university-based (and other) digital media labs for the purposes of advancing knowledge of space-based solar power satellites (SunSats) and illustrating their many Earth-energy applications.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"SunSat Design Competition Logo\" src=\"http:\/\/ih.constantcontact.com\/fs020\/1011289463147\/img\/414.jpg\" width=\"190\" height=\"190\" name=\"ACCOUNT.IMAGE.414\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you are a space scientist, engineer, academic, business or digital media professional with an idea for moving space solar power closer to implementation, consider forming a team to join in this effort. And please forward this message to others.<\/p>\n<p>In the first cycle of this competition, two First Place prizes of $10,000 and three Second Place prizes of $5,000 are expected to be awarded at the May 2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/isdc.nss.org\/2014\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\">International Space Development Conference<\/a> in Los Angeles.
