{"id":3883,"date":"2013-08-09T14:09:04","date_gmt":"2013-08-09T14:09:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobbyspace.com\/Blog\/?p=3883"},"modified":"2013-08-09T15:31:31","modified_gmt":"2013-08-09T15:31:31","slug":"poetry-and-student-art-heading-for-mars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hobbyspace.com\/Blog\/?p=3883","title":{"rendered":"Poetry and student art heading for Mars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Expected <a href=\"http:\/\/lasp.colorado.edu\/home\/maven\/2013\/08\/05\/maven-arrives-at-launch-site\/\" target=\"_d\">to launch<\/a> to Mars in November, the <a href=\"http:\/\/lasp.colorado.edu\/home\/maven\/\" target=\"_d\">MAVEN<\/a> (<em>Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution Mission<\/em>) spacecraft<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>will explore the planet\u2019s upper atmosphere, ionosphere and interactions with the sun and solar wind. Scientists will use MAVEN data to determine the role that loss of volatile compounds, such as CO<sub>2<\/sub>, N<sub>2<\/sub>, and H<sub>2<\/sub>O, from the Mars atmosphere to space has played over time, giving insight into the history of Mars atmosphere and climate, liquid water, and planetary habitability.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The spacecraft will also carry a DVD with over 1100 haiku poems selected in the outreach contest <a href=\"http:\/\/lasp.colorado.edu\/maven\/goingtomars\/\" target=\"_d\">Going to Mars<\/a>. The contest ran from May 15 to April 8 and was followed by online public voting to determine the First and Second Place winners.
