Upon return to Earth, Mark Vande Hei will hold the record for longest single spaceflight for an American. Vande Hei talked about his mission extension and impending spaceflight record during an interview from the International Space Station. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>A potential benefit to this extension is NASA gaining deeper insight into how the human body adapts to life in microgravity for longer periods of time.
