{"id":17447,"date":"2019-01-01T09:00:11","date_gmt":"2019-01-01T14:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobbyspace.com\/Blog\/?p=17447"},"modified":"2018-12-31T11:28:48","modified_gmt":"2018-12-31T16:28:48","slug":"student-and-amateur-cubesat-news-roundup-jan-1-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hobbyspace.com\/Blog\/?p=17447","title":{"rendered":"Student and amateur CubeSat news roundup &#8211; Jan.1.2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A sampling of recent articles, press releases, etc. about student and amateur <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/CubeSat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CubeSat<\/a> \/ SmallSat projects and programs:<\/p>\n<p>** <a href=\"https:\/\/spaceflightnow.com\/2018\/12\/27\/soyuz-28-satellite-cluster-launch\/\" target=\"_d\">Soyuz launches cluster of 28 satellites \u2013 Spaceflight Now<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>The\u00a0University of W\u00fcrzburg\u2019s fourth experimental CubeSat, known as UWE 4, carries a miniaturized electric propulsion system to be demonstrated in orbit, and also serves as an educational tool for the German university\u2019s engineering students.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>The other satellites deployed in the Fregat\u2019s final orbit were ZACube 2, a South African CubeSat, and the Lume 1 CubeSat from Spain.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Equipped with an AIS receiver to monitor ships and a medium-resolution near-infrared camera to track maritime traffic and detect wildfires, ZACube 2 was developed by the French South African Institute of Technology and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology near Cape Town.
