The\u00a021st\u00a0Annual International Mars Society Convention<\/a>\u00a0starts tomorrow in Pasadena, California and will last through Sunday.\u00a0 Check out the schedule (pdf)<\/a> packed with keynote talks and multiple parallel session tracks.\u00a0There are over 40 different sessions listed in the Conference flyer (pdf)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I expect the\u00a0Mars Society Youtube Channel<\/a> will provide a live\u00a0webcast and will later include recordings of presentations. If you are in Southern California this week, you can attend via registration at the door.<\/p>\n

One of the highlights of the event will be a debate on the utility and cost-effectiveness of NASA\u2019s proposed\u00a0Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway<\/a>, a human-tended facility to be put into orbit around the Moon:\u00a0Timely Debate on Lunar Orbit Platform-Gateway at Mars Society Convention – The Mars Society<\/a>. NASA is presenting LOG-G as one of the ways to use the Moon to prove technology that will be useful\u00a0later\u00a0for Mars missions.\u00a0Zubrin\u00a0is highly skeptical that LOP-G is useful for either Moon or Mars missions.<\/p>\n
