She deserves a proper memorial.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>With 14 hours left, the campaign has gotten pledges of\u00a0<span class=\"green-700 inline-block js-usd_pledged medium type-16 type-24-md\">$51,292\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"block navy-600 type-12 type-14-md lh3-lg\">towards the\u00a0<span class=\"money\">$52,681<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"mobile-hide\">goal. (If they don&#8217;t reach the goal, they get no money.)\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/sergethew\/a-statue-to-felicette-the-first-cat-in-space\/widget\/video.html\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"> <\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>F\u00e9licette suborbital spaceflight was part of a French study of weightlessness:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>On the 18th of October 1963, she blasted off from a base in Hammaguir, Algeria. Her short flight included 5 minutes of weightlessness and reached a height of 157 kilometres. Her capsule then parachuted back down to Earth, where she was met by a helicopter recovery team, just 13 minutes after launch.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>After her successful flight, reports indicate F\u00e9licette returned to the French space programme\u2019s laboratory for 2 or 3 months of further study.
