Lauren Oliver is making\u00a0a 30 minute\u00a0film with a story about\u00a0a fictional seventh Mercury mission. He has assembled a first rate crew and cast for it\u00a0and has a\u00a0Kickstarter campaign<\/a> is underway to complete the funding of the film.<\/p>\n

Project Mercury Reborn<\/strong><\/p>\n

Like space? T-minus is a space movie set during NASA\u2019s golden age.\u00a0It\u2019s 1963 at the culmination of Project Mercury. One (fictional) astronaut has to make an\u00a0extraordinary choice. Life, nature, and NASA itself will align against him: but in the end, he\u00a0will succeed.<\/p>\n

The era is to be painstakingly recreated through practical special effects and physical sets. Most\u00a0of this will take place in an 8,000 sq. ft. \u201cgarage\u201d not far from where director L.M. Oliver grew\u00a0up in Greensboro, North Carolina.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe movie is my entire life,\u201d he says. \u201cThe sum of my\u00a0passions\u2014storytelling, space, traditional special effects. And the struggle to accomplish\u00a0something despite distractions and intrusions of reality. To turn the corner sometimes you have\u00a0to make decisions that endanger your immediate survival. So it\u2019s a film about courage and\u00a0making your own reality and the perils of trying to join the very small club of dreamers who also\u00a0do. And we have a \u201963 Sting Ray,\u201d he grins. \u201cIt\u2019s insane.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
