Space Station Crew Member Remembers Hubble and Talks Station Science
Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 65 Flight Engineer Megan McArthur of NASA discussed life and research on the orbital complex and her remembrances of the Hubble Space Telescope during an in-flight event May 27 with Elizabeth Tammi, the social media and outreach lead for the Hubble Space Telescope from the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. McArthur operated the space shuttle’s robotic arm during the final Hubble servicing mission – STS-125 – in May 2009. Twelve years later, McArthur flew to the station aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon “Endeavour” for a planned six-month mission.

** SpaceX CRS-22: Research Overview – ISS National Lab

On SpaceX CRS-22, more than a dozen payloads sponsored by the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory will launch to the orbiting laboratory. Payloads on this mission include fundamental and applied research from recognizable private-sector companies and leading academic institutions as well as research funded by other government organizations. Space Station Crew Members Discuss Life in Space with Pennsylvania Students
Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 65 Flight Engineers Megan McArthur of NASA and Thomas Pesquet of ESA (European Space Agency) discussed life and research on the orbital complex with students from the Chester and Berks County, Pennsylvania school districts during a virtual in-flight educational event May 25. The event included an appearance by Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pa.). McArthur and Pesquet flew to the station last month aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon “Endeavour” for a planned six-month mission.

** Kate Rubins – Scientist in Space NASA Johnson

During the past six months, NASA astronaut Kate Rubins has embodied what it means to be an International Space Station scientist. She spent hundreds of hours working on space station experiments, talking with the researchers behind the studies, and serving as an ambassador for science in downlinks. Rubins built on experiments she conducted during her first mission in 2016, working on new heart research and DNA sequencing. ** Science Launching on SpaceX’s 22nd Cargo Resupply Mission to the Space StationNASA

** Higher Power in space | Thomas Pesquet & Coldplay – ESA

To celebrate the premiere of @Coldplay‘s latest single ‘Higher Power’, the band linked up for an extraterrestrial video chat with French ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet, who is currently on a six-month mission on board the International Space Station. A specially recorded performance of Higher Power – featuring dancing alien holograms – was beamed up to Thomas, who gave the track its very first play on board the Station. The song’s premiere followed a conversation which took in similarities between life on tour and life on the Space Station, how planet Earth looks from space and its fragility; and how Thomas listens to music in microgravity. ** Expedition 65 Education Inflight with Brownsville Science Center – May 11, 2021 – NASA Video

Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 65 Flight Engineers Shane Kimbrough of NASA and Thomas Pesquet of ESA (European Space Agency) discussed life and research on the orbital laboratory during an in-flight virtual educational event May 11 with students from the Brownsville Science Center in Brownsville, Texas. Kimbrough and Pesquet launched to the station last month on the SpaceX Crew Dragon “Endeavour” for a planned six-month mission.

** Expedition 65 Military Officer Magazine Interview NASA Video

Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 65 Flight Engineer Shane Kimbrough of NASA discussed life and work aboard the complex during an in-flight interview May 13 with Military Officer Magazine. Kimbrough, who is a retired Army colonel, launched to the station last month aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon “Endeavour” for a planned six-month mission.

** Media Teleconference: 1st Private Astronaut Mission with Axiom Space NASA Video – An audio-only briefing with representatives of NASA and Axiom Space who discuss the Axiom AX-1 mission planned for January 2022 in which four private citizens will travel to the ISS on a SpaceX Crew Dragon for a stay of 8 days. ** NASA’s SpaceX Crew-1 Flight Day Highlights NASA Video

NASA’s SpaceX Crew-1, consisting of NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, and Shannon Walker, and Soichi Noguchi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), began its return to Earth on Saturday, May 1, 2021. With their six-month stay on the space station coming to an end, the crew boarded their SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft Resilience, closed the hatches, and undocked from the space station. Hatch closure occurred at 6:26 p.m. EDT, undocking at 8:35 p.m. EDT. Resilience splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico near Panama City, Florida at 2:56 a.m. EDT on Sunday, May 2. Crew-1 is the first of six crewed missions NASA and SpaceX will fly as part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program, which worked with the U.S. aerospace industry to resume launches with astronauts on American rockets and spacecraft from American soil.

** Expedition 65 inflight with Georgia Tech and WXIA-TV, Atlanta – May 4, 2021 NASA Video

Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 65 Commander Aki Hoshide of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and NASA Flight Engineer Shane Kimbrough discussed life and work on board the complex during a pair of in-flight interviews May 3 with the public affairs office at Georgia Tech University and WXIA-TV, Atlanta. Kimbrough, who received a Masters of Science degree in Operations Research from Georgia Tech in 1998, and Hoshide launched to the station April 23 on the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket aboard the Crew Dragon spacecraft “Endeavour” for a planned six-month mission.

Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 65 Flight Engineers Megan McArthur of NASA and Thomas Pesquet of ESA (European Space Agency) discussed life and work aboard the orbital laboratory during an in-flight educational event May 6 with young women who are part of the “Shine On” project sponsored by the State University of New York in Plattsburgh, New York.
