AIAA-Houston Horizons; COTS submissions

AIAA-Houston has released the January/February 2006 issue (PDF, 2.05 MB) of Horizons Magazine. It contains an extensive survey of open source and free software "for Engineering and Science, and for Education, Home, and Work." In addition, there are several items of interest including an article about the ARES Mars Airplane and a short discussion of the J-2S engine intended for the CLV.

The "Local Industry News" section reports on the proposal to the COTS program submitted by Advent Launch Services, which I mentioned the other day. It also says that Triton Systems of the Clear Lake Area "submitted a response (partnering with several other organizations)". See the Triton Systems website for info about its Stellar-J reusable launch vehicle design. Both companies were described in the September/October 2005 issue of Horizons.
