Masten Space boosted hop test flight

The Masten Space team did three test flights on Friday, including a boosted hop to 68 meters. Here is a cool video of the latter flight taken from an unusual viewpoint:

Update: Here is a video posted on Facebook of the flight from a distance. (Link via Ian Kluft.)

I am glad to see that Masten is continuing their program of development for their vehicles. It would be a shame to see somebody with that level of development fade away after their accomplishment of capturing the Lunar Landing Challenge.

Their website is also looking rather interesting, and more like a serious aerospace company than a hobbyist blog site that it was at one point. Nothing new or interesting by itself, but I haven't been paying attention.

Continued flights of this nature will make Masten one of the major players in the future, which is a good sign. It is the diversity of options and ideas being tried out right now that is impressive across commercial spacefight, and this company is certainly one more place to keep looking for innovation. Congrats guys!
