UKSEDS (UK Students for the Exploration and Development of Space) is offering members a chance to learn all about rocketry:

Our rocketry workshop gives you the chance to learn all about building rockets and running rocketry projects. By the end you’ll be ready to lead your branch in the first UKSEDS Rocketry Competition, competing to win loads of great rocketry equipment for your branch.

The workshop will be at the University of Sheffield on 12th October.

Advised to aim to reach the venue no later than 9:30.

Aims of workshop

This year UKSEDS are putting together a rocketry training day, with the aim of training 1-3 members from each branch who will return heros to their branches and spearhead a rocketry project.

The day will focus on covering the basic for starting a rocketry project like, where to source information and materials, what kind of software you can use to help you design a rocket, safety considerations and mistakes most people make. Plus providing you with the tools required to relay all this back to your branch and lead a rocketry project yourselves.

Schedule

The breakdown of the day will look something like this:

09:00 – Doors open
09:45 – Introductions and welcome/warm up
10:00 – First Session: Introduction to Rockets, Basics of Rocketry and Model Rockets
11:30 – Second Session: Health and Safety
12:30 – Lunch
13:30 – Third Session: High Powered Rocketry and Avionics
14:30 – Fourth Session: Leading a project and teaching rocketry
16:00 – Break
16:30 – Example lesson plus rocket CAD introduction/Sourcing materials
18:00 – Where can you go/What is next ?
18:30 – Finish
